Dance, Trance, House, wait... what?
Is this really the kind of music people listen to when playing EVE? I tuned into EVE radio for the first time a few days ago to follow the coverage of the whole BOB - Goonswarm situation. Since then I've tuned in at random times more out of curiosity than anything else, and everytime I have its been, well... see above. Im not sure about everyone else but I never pictured "Dance" to go with EVE... at all Its just not the right kind of music for me, its annoying and distracting while playing. Anyway im wondering what do you all think, as you can probably tell im not a big fan of "Dance", although im all for it if im at a Rave or something... where it belongs. Ultimatly the point of this hastily written post is to find out... What music would you consider to be EVE's "native" music? (By which I mean what music do you "choose" to listen to whilst playing?) |

Thanks for the replies everyone Just to clear things up
Quote: if you were for eve-radio to only play music that fit the eve atmosphere, they could propably only play downtempo electro all day. not sure if that'd be very exciting.
If you listen to EVE radio all day you should probably expect it be rather boring after a while.
Quote: However, as for EVE's "native" music, its the same music the ingame jukebox contains. Doesnt get more EVE than that. Also possibly the Solaris soundtrack ;)
Agreed,
Quote: Below the Astroids, and the brilliant remix Above the Astroids, is the very heart and soul of EVE's "native" music.
Not heard it but will check it out.
Quote: Just fire up Winamp (or whatever) and you can listen to music you like.
That would be pointless, and would render EVE Radio pointless too. This is not a complaint im simply trying to get some feedback going, but thanks for posting I guess. |

Quote: Depends on what time you are listening. US TZ generally has MUCH MUCH more variety then the Euro counterparts. They like Techno, trance, house way too much. It's scary lol.
Im in the UK, but I listen to the radio throughout the day while im at work, hoping to keep up with latest EVE related news, unfortunatly this proves to be difficult since at the moment it seems to be 95 percent thumping bass and 5 percent the DJ telling us what the song was called. |

Haha its great that a DJ would group all those bands into the same Genre. |

Quote: I can't tell if you are being serious or not. I find that people who say that they like the rock genre quite like those bands. Thus, I throw them together.
I didnt mean anything negative by that, its just in my experience talking Genre with a DJ is usually a nightmare in itself. Its nice to see a DJ that doesnt conform to the Genre's so strictly a refreshing change. |

Quote: Actual metal music i find is probably the least suited to eve, whereas Classical/opera fits it so well.
This is the only constructive thing in your post, and therefore the only part that interests this forum thread, you can cut the rest out thanks
Also thanks for your oppinion... Im not a fan of Opera/Classical although I can see how it would go well in EVE |

Quote: I would tend to agree, but then I am baised by my choice of music also. (Chillout/Ambient)
I'ts safe to assume everyone is biased by the music they prefer, Im a big Indie fan myself but to listen to it in EVE would be... well wrong, This thread isnt so much about the "I listen to Indie so Indie is best for everything crowd" those of us who truely appreciate music and radio will agree that different types of music are right for different situations. |

Edited by: Xan Shephard on 10/02/2009 16:40:50 Thanks for the feedback everyone, im sure we all learned a lot about musical tastes today, and hopefully next time I listen to EVE-radio, there might just be something EVE-ish on hehe.
DJ Funkybacon, your the first person I heard on EVE-Radio when you did the BOB-Goonswarm "debate" and I did enjoy it so thanks for that.
Thanks everyone Xan Shephard |

Thanks for the replies everybody except;
Quote: considering that you dont have to donate or pay anything if you dont want to i think you should stfu OP, and never post again. the fact that EVE-radio has been going for so many years on donations from the playerbase says alot more than your pathetic post, not to mention the dedication of the dj's.
I find your aggression towards an OP in a constructive forum that you failed to read/understand pitiful, in the interests of keeping the EVE forums free of "trolling" I will not ever respond to one of your replies/threads so please dont reply here again thanks
Thanks again to everyone else who replied...
I would just like to point out however, I dont dislike EVE radio, this thread was simply about music genre's and its relation to EVE. |

So your not really a DJ in the conventional sense? (as in you dont do your interviews/Tournament coverage for the purpose of EVE-Radio or New Eden radio etc)
Think I misunderstood something here hehe
I'll rephrase; How do you allow the masses to hear your interviews/coverage? |

In the coincidence of the day Navtiqes I just heard Above the asteroids on EVE-radio, coincidental since ive been listening to New Eden Radio all day and I just turned to EVE-radio for 5 minutes before turning back because well, its pretty poor at the moment.
Its pretty good, well mixed, good recomendation thanks |

Im surprised they didnt use the "Aura laughing" one that plays when you get podded, I half expected that to be the last thing she said. I heard somewhere they were taking all of the Aura sound effects out of the game (from the tutorials at least) So that song may prove to be a conservation of times past hehe |

Quote: I find it amusing how at every turn, someone from NER or one of their fanbois (or alts as the "!" obviously marks them) is putting down Eve Radio while saying how great they are, but no one from Eve Radio seems to be saying boo to them. I detect internet bitterness.
Thats because you failed to read this post in its entirety, if you had you would have discovered i had never heard of New Eden Radio before this post was made, also the "!" is because I rarely post on these forums... wonder why? this can also be determined by checking my "last posts of this character"
Also I have made it abundantly clear that I "DO NOT" dislike EVE-Radio this is a thread about musical genre's and there relation in EVE
Nobody from EVE-Radio responds saying "boo" because the DJ's on EVE-Radio are considerably smarter than that and are capable of reading entire threads... |
